Red-Whiskered Bul Bul

Each of our clay whistle sculptures is hand-formed from locally sourced clay and hand-painted by one of our Akha hilltribe artisans.

The Red-whiskered Bulbul (Pycnonotus jocosus) is found mainly in tropical regions of Asia. It feeds on fruits and small insects and known to conspicuously perch on trees and pronounce their loud three or four note call. The distinctive crest and the red-vent and whiskers makes them easy to identify.
